Despite maintaining its status as the second-highest state for gun sales, Florida experiences a significant 7% decrease in 2024, purchasing just over 1.2 million firearms. This decline reflects a national trend where U.S. gun sales also drop by 3.4% from the previous year, continuing a downward trajectory since the pandemic peak in 2020.

Analysts indicate several factors for this decline, including market saturation and shifting consumer priorities, as many gun owners now focus on accessories rather than purchasing additional firearms. As the gun market adjusts, 15 states report increases in sales, with Massachusetts leading at a 22.5% rise, prompting questions about regional differences in firearm purchases across the nation.
