Florida GOP Chairman Evan Power sharply criticizes Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan for allegedly maintaining an illegal registry of gun owners accessing city buildings. This accusation follows a State Attorney investigation that revealed subpoenas were issued to city leaders regarding the registry, which violates Florida law, stating that such lists can lead to profiling and abuse of law-abiding citizens exercising their Second Amendment rights.

Power’s comments come amidst a backdrop of Florida’s recent permitless carry law, signed by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2023, which took effect on the same day Deegan took office. He declares that such administrative practices undermine the freedoms of Floridians and asserts that Deegan’s actions warrant accountability not only in the legal system but also through public scrutiny.
