Authorities report that two handguns were discovered by a staff member in a jacket at Turlock’s Dutcher Middle School, located in an area typically inaccessible to students. One of the firearms inadvertently discharged, but fortunately, no students or staff were harmed during the incident.
The Turlock Police Department has since taken the weapons as evidence and is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding their presence at the school. Notably, the school did not lock down in response to the discovery, as most staff and students were unaware of the situation at the time. Police encourage anyone with information to come forward.
