Duncan highlights that in times of low commodity prices, the impact of deer feeding becomes even more pronounced, prompting farmers to prioritize wildlife management alongside estate tax discussions.

To address these concerns, Duncan emphasizes the need for improved record-keeping of the deer herd and modifications to the nuisance permit process and hunting seasons. With the state’s hunting demographic aging, the challenges posed by deer are unlikely to diminish without meaningful changes. This dialogue aims to bring various stakeholders together for practical solutions to a persistent agricultural issue.
