Indiana’s Senate Committee on Corrections and Criminal Law has unanimously passed House Bill 1095, which aims to expand the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force to include Lake County. The initiative, underway since 2021, has been effective in solving crimes through firearm tracing, and local advocates believe this expansion will bolster law enforcement capabilities against organized crime.

Supporters highlight the task force’s success in dismantling networks involved in illegal firearms and drug trafficking, with Senator Dan Dernulc stating its critical role in enhancing community safety. As the bill advances to the full Senate for further consideration, it represents a significant step in enhancing the resources available to fight gun-related crimes across Indiana.
