Five members of the Proud Boys have launched a $100 million lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice, alleging that their constitutional rights were violated during the prosecution following the January 6, 2021 Capitol protests. The plaintiffs, who were convicted on charges related to the protests, contend that the Biden administration engaged in a campaign of political persecution, utilizing tactics such as witness intimidation and evidence tampering to unjustly imprison them.

In their filed complaint, the group argues that they did not participate in any actions that warranted their treatment as insurrectionists and seek damages for what they describe as a violation of their Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment rights. As the nation continues to grapple with political divisions, this lawsuit raises significant questions about governmental overreach and the protections afforded to citizens under the Constitution.
