KelTec has launched KelTec Direct, offering enthusiasts exclusive editions, bundles and unique configurations designed and shipped from the people who design and build them. The website not only offers a great selection of options, but complete access to the KelTec catalog. Orders get fast fulfillment, direct KelTec support and the ability to request notification when out-of-stock items become available.

The new KelTec PR-3AT Defender Package exemplifies the KelTec Direct approach. It features the company’s popular .380 ACP-chambered pistol, which employs the company’s innovative PR-series rotary-barrel system—ideal for deep concealment. The gun ships wearing a factory-installed Viridian RFX1 Green Dot sight and comes with a minimalist belt clip, Rounded Gear IWB holster and four 7-round stripper clips. It’s  ready to use straight out of the box.

Ordering direct couldn’t be any easier, either. Browse the catalog, make a selection and navigate to the checkout page. Software there confirms whether the firearm or complete package is legal in your state. Enter the FFL you would like to have it shipped to—use the convenient FFL locator if you don’t have that information—and complete the purchase with payment information.

Once the package arrives at your FFL, the steps are nearly identical to purchasing a gun from the retailer’s inventory. Prior to taking possession, new owners must complete ATF’s Form 4473 and any others required in their region. An FBI NICS check is also needed, unless the purchaser has a valid concealed carry or other permit that qualifies as an alternative in their state. The only difference may be the FFL charging a nominal transfer fee.

KelTec has built an enviable reputation in the firearm industry, for good reason. It was 35 years ago when George Kellgren established the firm in Cocoa, Fla. At first it specialized in supplying precision CNC parts to gun companies, but he brought with him a wealth of expertise—having worked as a designer for Husqvarna, Swedish Interdynamics AB and Intrate. The firm quickly gained a reputation for quality.

In 1995 the company’s first pistol hit the market—the P-11. The polymer-frame semi-auto, chambered in 9 mm, proved to be the first in its long line of big successes that continue to this day. Every gun made by the company is designed and manufactured in Cocoa, Fla.
