Lewisburg Man Sentenced for Firearm Possession

Richard Shawn Owens, a 39-year-old resident of Lewisburg, West Virginia, is sentenced to 15 months in federal prison after being found in illegal possession of multiple firearms. This conviction comes after a previous domestic violence offense, highlighting serious concerns about gun possession laws surrounding individuals with violent criminal histories.

During a search of Owens’ home on August 10, 2023, federal agents discovered six firearms, including handguns and rifles, alongside hundreds of rounds of ammunition and drug paraphernalia. The case, part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, aims to reduce violent crime by targeting repeat offenders while promoting community safety and rehabilitation.
