A 23-year-old Little Rock man, Joey Simmons, dies following a high-speed police pursuit that originated from a string of armed robberies at gas stations in Conway and Damascus. Simmons allegedly began his crime spree early Wednesday morning at a Phillips 66 station, where he entered with a rifle and demanded cash, claiming he was “on a mission from God,” before fleeing with approximately $200.
Police quickly issued a “Be On The Lookout” alert, leading to a chase that ended violently on Highway 65 in Bee Branch, where Simmons’ car crashed into a culvert. Local resident Gary Elliott heard the crash and discovered the aftermath, noting that fortunately, no civilians or officers were harmed during the incident. The recovered cash was returned to the Phillips 66, as police continue their investigation into the events that transpired.
