On National Gun Violence Awareness Day, local organizations in Savannah unite for the 11th annual End the Cycle, Stop Gun Violence event, aiming to support a community grappling with recent tragedies. The event draws attention to the pressing issue of gun violence after the recent loss of two children in Bulloch County, prompting community leaders and non-profit organizations to engage in educational dialogues on prevention and safety with attendees.

Significantly, the Savannah Police report a decline in aggravated assaults involving firearms, with 129 cases recorded between January and May last year, compared to a reduction of 11 cases this year. Local officials emphasize the importance of educating children about gun safety, as discussions aim to enhance awareness and foster an environment conducive to preventing future incidents. Attendees, including families and community leaders, resonate with these efforts, reflecting a collective commitment to addressing gun violence head-on.
