A Metairie man is arrested following a dramatic multi-parish police chase that ended in Ponchatoula early Saturday morning. Travis Umfrey, 44, was initially stopped by a deputy for driving without a license plate, but he fled the scene, leading to a pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies across several parishes.

The chase escalated when deputies deployed spike strips to halt Umfrey’s truck, resulting in a struggle that involved him allegedly attempting to grab a deputy’s stun gun and reach for a knife. Ultimately, he was apprehended after a prolonged fight on the ground and taken to Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, facing charges that include aggravated flight from an officer and resisting arrest, with more charges possibly forthcoming.
