Derik Carothers, a 29-year-old from Washington, Pennsylvania, is sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for illegally possessing multiple firearms and ammunition, stemming from a high-speed chase in 2019. During the pursuit, which concluded with a violent rollover crash, police recovered four loaded guns, including two that were stolen, along with crack cocaine and a bulletproof vest.

The federal court found that Carothers’ extensive felony record, including previous firearm offenses, disqualified him from legal gun ownership. His sentence highlights the serious repercussions of illegal firearm possession and the dangers posed during high-speed pursuits, as Carothers’ case involves recovered weapons and drugs found at the crash site.
