A 48-year-old man from Middletown, Anthony Fields, is indicted by a federal grand jury for a series of armed robberies and a carjacking that involved a sawed-off shotgun with a unique duct-taped handle. According to federal prosecutors, Fields committed his first robbery on January 25 at a local restaurant and followed up with a second robbery at a gas station just five days later. In his desperate escape, he carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint, threatening the driver with the very weapon he used in the robberies.

He now faces serious charges, including two counts of Hobbs Act robbery and carjacking, resulting in a potential prison sentence ranging from a minimum of seven years to life if convicted. This case highlights escalating street crime linked to armed threats and the swift investigative efforts of law enforcement in identifying suspects.
