Few things have captured the imagination of the competition, self-defense and target-shooting handgun markets over the past few years like “2011” designs. The term generally means a 9 mm Luger-chambered, M1911-style pistol that uses a hybrid metal and polymer frame that houses a double-stack magazine. At one time existing only in the realm of high-end custom products, recent domestically produced and imported 2011 handguns have put the design within the reach of a wider audience. Military Armament Corporation (MAC) is expanding its lineup in this market with the new-for-2025 MAC 9 Double-Stack (DS) Duty, DS Duty Comp and DS Comp pistols.

The MAC 9 DS Duty adds a 5” barrel and a full-length dustcover and accessory rail to the MAC 9 DS introduced last year.

MAC offered its first 2011 model in 2024 with the Tisas-built MAC 9 DS with a 4.25” barrel. The company’s newly released models follow that basic design, with a forged steel slide and frame, a polymer grip module, extended controls, machined internals, a target-crowned bushingless bull barrel and QPQ Tenifer finish on metal parts. The guns are optics ready using the Agency Arms AOS plate system. Two 17-round Checkmate magazines are provided with each pistol.

New this year, MAC is offering two new compensated 9 DS models. The 5” barrel DS Comp is pictured.

The MAC 9 DS Duty has a 5” barrel, lightening cuts in the slide, a full-length frame dustcover with an accessory rail, and a front sight with fiber-optic insert. It weighs 38 ozs. Both “Comp” models have an integrated ported barrel and slide with a single port. The D Comp has a 4.90” barrel, lightening cuts in the slide and a full-length frame dustcover with an accessory rail. It weighs 35 ozs. The Comp has the same features, but with a 4.25” barrel. It weighs 30 ozs.

A compensated pistol in the “Commander” size is also offered, as the MAC 9 DS Comp with 4.25” barrel.

The MAC 9 DS Duty has an MSRP of $950, the D Comp and Comp retail for $1,080 each. For more information, see the Military Armament Corporation website here.
