CZ introduced its 600-series bolt action rifles in 2021, and soon after, American Rifleman declared that with the new model CZ “re-invents its approach to the bolt-action rifle.” A modern and modular design, the CZ 600 was tailored to the aesthetic and needs of the modern rifleman, with four models that covered everything from hunting to target shooting. New for 2024, CZ is introducing the 600 American, a rifle tailored to North American hunters.
The innovative CZ 600 action uses a multi-lug bolt that operates with a 60-degree throw. The magazine is detachable but can be locked in place.
The basis of the American is CZ’s 600 bolt action with its controlled round feeding system using a bolt that requires a 60-degree throw to unlock, a magazine that is removable but can also be locked in place for top loading and a two-position tang-mounted safety. A user-adjustable trigger and compatibility with M700 scope mounts makes the rifle easily customizable.
The American takes the CZ 600 action and places it in an American-style walnut stock.
Paired with a medium-contour, cold-hammer-forged barrel that has its muzzle threaded, the action is placed in a Turkish walnut stock that features checkering in the pistol grip and fore-end areas, a rubber recoil pad and quick-detachable sling swivel studs. Metal parts have a nitride finish.
The CZ 600 American has a medium-contour, cold hammer-forged barrel with its muzzle threaded for attaching suppressors.
The American is available in mini, medium and long-action versions, chambered in .223 Rem., .243 Win., 6.5 mm Creedmoor, .270 Win., 7.62×39 mm, .308 Win., .30-’06 Sprg. and .300 Win. Mag. Barrel lengths are 18” in 7.62×39 mm, 20” in .308 Win. and .243 Win. and 24” for the remaining chamberings. Magazine capacity is five rounds for all cartridges, except the .300 Win. Mag., which has a capacity of three rounds.
The CZ 600 American is available in three different action sizes with a possible eight chamberings.
The CZ 600 American is available with a Turkish walnut stock or as the American High Grade (with chambering options of .308 Win., 6.5 mm Creedmoor or .30-’06 Sprg.) with an American walnut stock. The MSRP of the American is $849 or $1,499 for the American High Grade. The rifle comes with a sub-m.o.a. guarantee for three shots at 100 yards with match-grade ammunition and CZ’s transferable limited lifetime warranty.
