Hi-Point Firearms is known for producing affordable and unique firearms and having a creative approach to marketing. Case in point is the company’s 2019 naming contest for its next generation of handguns. Their fans selected the name “YEET Cannon,” and the first model offered was the 9 mm Luger YC9. New for 2024, Hi-Point is expanding their YC line-up with the .380 ACP-chambered YC380.

The YC380 gives Hi-Point’s .380 ACP handguns the “YEET Cannon” treatment.

The YC series marked an update for Hi-Point’s blowback-operated, striker-fired semi-automatic handguns. Serrations are present on the front and rear of a slide that features a new profile. An M1913 Picatinny accessory rail is present on the polymer frame’s dustcover. Grip panels are removable and have a more aggressive texture. Safety features include a manual safety lever, grip safety and a magazine disconnect safety. The rear sight is adjustable and can be replaced with a red dot sight mounting plate, while the front sight is Glock-compatible for wide aftermarket support.

While the supplied sights use a three-dot system, a peep-style rear sight is also supplied. A 10-round magazine (one is supplied with each pistol) replaces the eight-round box of Hi-Point’s previous .380 models, and the magazine locks the slide to the rear after the last round has been fired. The extended barrel is 4.12” long and has its muzzle threaded 1/2×28 TPI for the attachment of suppressors and other accessories and all metal parts are given a black powder coat finish. Overall weight for the YC380 comes in at 34.02 ozs.

Left side of the Hi-Point Firearms YC380.The YC380 is part of Hi-Point’s latest generation of handgun, with features like a 10-round magazine, grip safety, and Picatinny accessory rail.

The Hi-Point YC380 has an MSRP of $215 and is covered by the company’s lifetime warranty. If the YC380 follows the pattern of other Hi-Point firearms, expect options like non-threaded barrels, unique finish options and factory-installed optics in the future.
