Savage Arms announced the launch of its second generation of AXIS rifles in 2024. The new line, dubbed the AXIS 2, offers five different models loaded with next-generation updates and tailored to different segments of the firearm market.
“AXIS set the bar for affordability and accuracy in regards to rifles,” said Beth Shimanski, director of marketing at Savage Arms. “AXIS is built for everyone from novices to experts. We have the right rifle for anyone with options that include wood, camo, compact, left hand, multiple colors and just about every combination within that mix; all with unmatched accuracy and performance, right out of the box.”
The redesigned version of the base AXIS 2 incorporates a redesigned stock that features a pistol-grip wrist that’s mirrored on both sides for left- and right-handed shooters. Improved texturing is found on the wrist and fore-end, and the polymer stock can be had in OD green, gray and flat dark earth colors. Full-size, left-hand and compact models are available. The AXIS 2 also features a redesigned bolt handle, and the gun incorporates Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger, along with a detachable box magazine. The AXIS 2 is available with nearly every popular chambering and retails for $489.
Stepping up, the Savage Arms AXIS 2 XP also includes an adjustable AccuTrigger and ships with a factory-mounted and bore-sighted 3-9X 40 mm riflescope. The same stock colors and chamberings as the standard AXIS 2 model are also available in the AXIS XP line, along with full-size, compact and left-handed models. These rifles retail for $549. A premium offering in the AXIS 2 lineup is the Hardwood model, which incorporates a walnut stock complete with laser-cut stippling on the grip and fore-end. This model includes all the features of the AXIS 2 XP, along with the factory-mounted 3-9X riflescope, and retails for $689.
At the top of the AXIS 2 line of rifles is the Savage AXIS 2 PRO. This model is offered with a polymer stock finished in one of two Savage-exclusive camouflage patterns, and all the metal surfaces are treated with a durable Cerakote finish. The barrels are threaded, and a one-piece rail tops the receiver. Also available in a range of popular chamberings and in full-size, compact and left-handed configurations, the AXIS 2 PRO retails for $599.
