Savage Arms is getting back into the lever-action business. But the company’s new Revel lever-action rifle isn’t your granddad’s Model 99. Instead, this is an entirely new offering for rimfire enthusiasts, and it’s designed to be affordable, compact and easy to shoot. Two models of the gun are available at launch. Watch American Rifleman’s introduction video above to see the details of this new rifle.

“Savage Arms proudly introduces the Revel Classic and Revel DLX as we expand into another new category for the brand and company,” said Beth Shimanski, director of marketing at Savage Arms. “These firearms combine cutting-edge features with the timeless appeal of a classic lever-action rimfire rifle. Fun and convenient, the takedown capabilities mean precision and reliability are as portable and versatile as ever.”

An upgraded model of the Savage Revel, termed the Revel DLX, features a pistol-grip stock, enhanced walnut furniture and a hooded front sight.

Available in .22 Long Rifle, .22 WMR and .17 HMR, the Revel Classic is equipped with an 18″ barrel and outfitted with Turkish walnut furniture. A tubular magazine under the barrel provides room for 12 cartridges in the .22 LR version, while .22 WMR and .17 HMR models have a magazine capacity of nine rounds. To load the gun, simply twist the knurled end of the magazine tube cap and remove the internal brass sleeve. A cartridge-shaped cutout on the bottom of the magazine tube allows rounds to be slotted in. Once full, the spring-loaded sleeve is replaced and twisted back on.

The Savage Revel is equipped with a simple crossbolt safety located at the bottom rear of the receiver. The gun is also equipped with an external hammer. An oversize lever loop makes it easy for those with large or gloved hands to operate the action. A set of adjustable open sights makes it easy to get on target, but for those looking for some added capability, the rifle’s receiver is also drilled and tapped for an optic mount.

A unique feature of the Savage Arms Revel is its takedown function. The buttstock and its lower trigger housing is attached to the aluminum receiver body via two captured takedown pins. Simply push the two pins out, and the two halves of the rifle come apart for easy transport and storage.

Many of the features of the Classic are mirrored on the DLX model, including the takedown feature. However, the DLX comes with upgraded walnut furniture featuring additional texturing and aesthetic cuts, along with a pistol-grip buttstock instead of the straight stock of the Classic model. A hooded front sight is also included for added protection.

Suggested retail pricing for the new Savage Arms Revel lever-action rifle starts at $419 for the Classic model and $519 for the DLX. For more information, visit the Savage Arms website here.
