Superb as the original remains, Browning nonetheless found a few areas for improvement within its X-Bolt platform, which it has addressed by offering several second-generation models—including the Hunter Composite seen here.
Chambered in 13 cartridges, with barrel lengths ranging from 22″ to 26″ (7 mm Rem. Mag. shown), the X-Bolt 2 Hunter Composite benefits from a Vari-Tech stock that is adjustable for both comb height and length of pull and comes with interchangeable grip modules and a thicker 1¼” Inflex recoil pad.
Browning’s exceptional single-stage DLX trigger also comes standard; our test sample exhibited no discernible take-up, creep or overtravel.
Set at the factory for a 3-lb., 8-oz., pull weight, the DLX can be adjusted by the user for a break anywhere between 3 and 4 lbs.
