Italian manufacturer Chiappa has a diverse firearm lineup, from replicas of historic firearms to modern and innovative products, like the Rhino revolver. Many of the company’s products are minimalistic and affordable designs, like the Little Badger break-action rimfire rifles. New for 2025, the company is introducing the Big Badger, a centerfire take on its original single-barrel, break-action, folding firearms.
Like the Little Badger, the Big Badger uses a steel receiver with a break-open action, actuated by a lever mounted in front of the trigger guard. Safety is provided by a half-cock notch on the external hammer. An extractor removes cartridges from the chamber. The rear stock is a wire rod design with a rubber recoil pad and an adjustable cheekpiece, that allows for the shooter’s line-of-sight to be adjusted to match a mounted optic.
Rifle models are chambered in .30-30 Win. (1:12″ twist) or 350 Legend (1:16″ twist) and have a 20” barrel with their muzzle threaded (1/ x28 TPI) and no sights. The .410 shotgun version uses a 20” barrel that is threaded for Beretta/Benelli Mobil choke tubes (a modified choke is supplied) and a protected front post sight with a fiber optics insert. The handguard has a Picatinny rail on the top and bottom, for mounting optics and accessories, with M-Lok slots on the side.
Rifle versions of the Big Badger weigh 5.5 lbs., and the shotgun version is 5.3 lbs. They have an overall length of 35” and are approximately the length of their barrel when folded.
