The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed into law in July of this year, included a provision that eliminated the $200 tax on suppressors and short-barreled rifles and shotguns. Manufacturers have responded by adding these types of items to their inventories in anticipation of increased customer interest once the law takes effect on Jan. 1 , 2026. One of these manufacturers is Tippmann Arms, who is offering integrally-suppressed versions of their popular M4-22 .22 LR modern sporting rifle.
The Tippmann M4-22 is a blowback-operated, semi-automatic chambered in .22 LR that mimics the shape and controls of an M4 rifle, from its functional dustcover to a forward assist, and are compatible with many AR-15 components and accessories. Its upper and lower receivers are made of aluminum, its bolt is nickel plated, and it uses a mil-spec fire control group.
Tippmann is introducing two new models that feature integrally-suppressed barrels. This mean that the suppressor and barrel are manufactured as a single unit. According to the company, the advantages of an integrally-suppressed system include reduced weight and a shorter overall length, eliminating alignment issues, a lower cost and a more efficient system that can be tuned for greater reliability.
The ELITE ISS rifle has a 16-inch integrally-suppressed barrel that gives a 26 db noise reduction for a reading of 115 db at the muzzle. This is paired with a 12-inch aluminum free-floating handguard with M-Lok slots and a telescoping buttstock mounted on the receiver extension. It has an overall length of 32.625 inches to 35.75 inches, depending on the position of the stock, and weighs 4 lbs., 14 ozs.
The M4-22 ELITE Bug Out ISS pistol has a 12-inch integrally-suppressed barrel that yields a 19 dB noise reduction for a measured 122 dB at the muzzle. It uses a 9-inch aluminum handguard and a folding T5 arm-stabilizing brace. It has an overall length of 21.63 inches with the brace folded or 28.25 inches to 31.38 inches with the brace extended, and weighs 4 lbs., 12 ozs.
Both the rifle and pistol come with front and rear folding back-up sights, a Gen 2 pistol grip, an ambidextrous sling adapter plate, and a 25-round magazine. The M4-22 ELITE Bug Out ISS pistol has an MSRP of $1,160 and the M4-22 ELITE ISS rifle retails for $1,040. Tippmann is also offering unsuppressed versions of the M4-22 in a short-barreled rifle (SBR) format with 7-inch and 11-inch barrels. For more information, see the company’s website.
