Ounces make pounds and that fact is very obvious in the hunting pursuit. From optics to bipods to boots, hunters look everywhere to shave a few more ounces off of their load. A rifle is the obvious place to minimize weight, and Bergara is introducing two new options that do just that: the Platinum Stalker and Cima Pro.

Bergara is introducing two new models aimed at lightening the load for hunters.

Both rifles use Bergara’s stainless steel Premier action with an M700 footprint and a stainless Cerakote finish, spiral-fluted bolt and a TriggerTech trigger. The Platinum Pro has a stainless-steel, fluted barrel with a threaded muzzle and comes with an Omni muzzlebrake installed. Made of laminated wood with a Monte Carlo profile, the rifle’s stock is checkered and has detachable sling-swivel studs and a premium recoil pad. The triggerguard has a hinged floorplate and the rifle has a five-round capacity in standard cartridges and three rounds for magnum cartridges. The bottom metal is of an M5 pattern and can be converted to detachable magazines.

The Platinum Stalker is available chambered in 25 Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win. and 6.5 PRC with a 20-inch barrel; and .270 Win., 7 mm Rem. Mag., 7 PRC, .30-06 Sprg., .300 Win. Mag., 300 PRC and .375 H&H with a 22-inch barrel. In short-action cartridges, the Platinum Stalker weighs 6.75 pounds, with long-action and magnum versions weighing a quarter to a half pound more. It has an MSRP of $1,749.

The Cima Pro’s Premier action has lightening cuts to bring its weight down to the minimum.

The Cima Pro’s action has lightening cuts and an enlarged ejection port and is paired with a carbon-fiber wrapped CURE barrel with its muzzle threaded and Bergara’s newly-designed side-port ST2 muzzle brake installed. The M5-compatible bottom metal uses a hinged floorplate for a five-round capacity with standard cartridges and three-round capacity for magnum cartridges. Its stock is made of autoclave-cured carbon fiber with a camouflage finish and three quick-detachable sling swivel studs.

The Cima Pro, with carbon-fiber stock and carbon-fiber wrapped barrel tips the scales at 5.5 lbs. in short action form.
