Springfield Armory has announced the release of the SA-35 9mm Polished Blued pistol, offering fans who appreciate the charm of the “wood and steel” era of arms-making an aesthetically pleasing, polished variant of this popular pistol.

Based on one of the most prolific and popular pistols in small arms history, the Springfield Armory SA-35 gives modern shooters an updated take on a revered classic. Featuring subtle but significant upgrades to John Moses Browning’s original P-35 design, the 9mm SA-35 is made right here in the U.S.A.

While the original SA-35 features an attractive matte-blue finish, this new polished blued model employs a specialized polishing process prior to it receiving its hot salt bluing treatment. The result is a pistol featuring a finish that harkens back to the early eras of this classic design.

Retaining all the appealing characteristics of the original design, the SA-35 features a slide and frame made from rugged forgings for increased strength and improved durability over the original. Further adding to the durability of the 9mm pistol is the addition of a cold-hammer-forged barrel.

The pistol also features improved ergonomics and enhanced controls. The SA-35’s hammer features improved geometry to minimize the potential for contact with the web of the hand, often referred to as “hammer bite,” that was common with the original design. In addition, an extended thumb safety offers easier engagement and access.

Additional upgrades from the original design include modern-style sights consisting of a white-dot front and a Tactical Rack rear sight with light-diffusing serrations for an enhanced sight picture. Magazine capacity in the included, flush-fitting, polished-blue magazine is a full 15 rounds, a two-round increase over the original’s 13-round capacity.

Complementing the polished blue finish of this pistol is a set of beautiful checkered walnut grips, featuring attractive grain and finely cut checkering. In addition, the magazine well is also slightly funneled to ease loading of magazines into the pistol.

“Since its launch, the SA-35’s appealing combination of classic design and subtle enhancements has made it extremely popular with shooters and collectors,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “With the new Polished Blued version, enthusiasts have an attractive new option in this popular line of 9mm pistols.”

MSRP on the polished blue SA-35 is $799.
