A new law in New Hampshire, effective January 1, 2025, allows employees to keep legally-owned firearms in their locked vehicles at work, provided the guns are out of sight. This legislation targets companies that receive government funding, preventing them from prohibiting such practices. While New Hampshire is known for its lenient gun laws, the law does not extend the same rights to private workplaces, where employers can still enforce bans on firearms inside facilities.

The law comes in the wake of increased calls for gun regulations following a tragic shooting incident at New Hampshire Hospital in 2023. With similar statutes existing in several other states, Granite Staters are learning more about their rights regarding gun ownership in professional settings. However, employees should note that their employers still have authority over workplace policies regarding firearms inside the building.
