The Ohio Wildlife Council has received a proposal outlining new waterfowl hunting zones intended for the 2026 to 2030 seasons, which was discussed in their recent meeting on April 30. The proposed zones include three distinct areas, with Zone A in northwest Ohio, Zone B in northeast Ohio and part of northwest Ohio, and Zone C covering the rest of the state, including critical discussions about the inclusion of Lake Erie waters in Zone B.
Public participation is encouraged, as comments on the proposal will be accepted online starting June 9 and a statewide hearing is scheduled for July 16. This initiative aims to enhance waterfowl hunting regulations based on feedback from hunter surveys and regulations set by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, ensuring that the changes align with both conservation efforts and the interests of local hunters.
