Philadelphia officials gather to mark the start of Gun Violence Awareness Month as the city grapples with a recent triple shooting in Tacony, which left three men injured, including one in critical condition. The shooting occurred in the early hours, with police reporting that a 21-year-old driver was shot while in his vehicle, sustaining injuries from 13 bullets fired into the car.

As leaders address the ongoing gun violence issue, Mayor Parker highlights a decrease in homicides while emphasizing the importance of every life lost to violence. “Whenever we lose a life, it’s not just a statistic,” he states, urging community members to remain hopeful for change as residents in Tacony express their desire for peace and safety in their neighborhood.
