Pistol-Packing Grannies

In a presentation ceremony at the Grant County Courthouse in Moses Lake, Wash., Sheriff Bill Weister uttered words that would horrify the gun-grabbers, but thrilled an applauding crowd of locals: “Henceforth,” the sheriff declared, “Dorothy Cunningham and Marty Killinger will be known as the Pistol-Packing Grandmas.”

A week before, the two sweet granny-types were snoring in their sacks when somebody knocked on the door and asked to use their phone for an emergency. When 75-year-old Cunningham unlocked the bolt, four young males barged in, demanded her car keys, and started smacking the ladies around.
Granny Killinger snatched up the phone, but there was no dial tone. She found out later the intruders had cut the telephone wires before pulling their emergency scam.

So she did what any frail older lady would do: she jumped on the nearest dude and started thrashing him.

Meantime, Cunningham took advantage of the confusion and split to the bedroom, grabbed her 9mm Luger, pivoted back to the living room, and fired a volley of shots over the goblins’ heads.
“I said some strong words to them that I don’t usually use,” Cunningham later told the press. “I told them to get out, or I’d shoot and kill them.”

The four apparently experienced simultaneous group enlightenment and bailed out. Deputies rounded up 20-year-old Jeffrey Strickland and three juveniles, charging them with first-degree burglary and second-degree attempted robbery.

Sheriff Weister called the incident “A clear message to criminals that senior citizens won’t tolerate this type of behavior from young punks.”

And please take note: Madames Cunningham and Killinger were not arrested and not charged with a crime for defending their lives with a firearm. Just what is the world coming to?

Oh, almost forgot: this didn’t happen in New York or California. The crooks probably won’t even win a lawsuit against their intended victims.
