The Portage County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Concealed Carry Weapons Class on September 27 in Stevens Point, aimed at those seeking a CCW permit. This half-day course, taught by certified firearm instructors, costs $50 and runs from 8 a.m. to noon, allowing participants to gain necessary skills and knowledge for safe handgun ownership.
In addition to the CCW class, a Basic Handgun Course will be offered from 1-4 p.m. at the nearby law enforcement range. This session covers essential shooting skills, and students must bring a firearm along with 50 rounds of ammunition. Those enrolling in both courses can participate for a combined fee of $75.
