A vibrant wave of orange filled Main Line Brewery in Richmond as survivors, advocates, and community members convene for the annual “Wear Orange” rally, aimed at honoring gun violence victims and urging legislative change. Hosted by Richmond Moms Demand Action, the event features emotional testimonials from those like Laverne McMullen, who lost her son to gun violence three years ago, highlighting the personal stakes behind this national issue.

Richmond Police Chief Rick Edwards and Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan also address the assembled crowd, stressing the urgent need for societal transformation to prevent further tragedies. With gun violence now the leading cause of death among children in the U.S. since 2020, the rally serves as a powerful reminder that remembrance must translate into action.
