Springfield Armory has an extensive offering of AR-15s in its Saint and Saint Victor lineups, but the Saint Victor 9 mm Carbine took the design into a new space. Watch our “American Rifleman Television” Rifleman Review segment above to see the details on the company’s first pistol-caliber carbine.

“This week for Rifleman Review, we’ve got a pretty cool offering from Springfield Armory,” American Rifleman Managing Editor Christopher Olsen said. “This is the Springfield Saint Victor 9 mm pistol caliber carbine. That’s right, this is Springfield’s Saint PCC. It’s a blowback-operated, AR-style carbine that is loaded with features.”

Each Springfield Armory Saint Victor 9 mm Carbine is built with a set of forged 7075-T6 aluminum receivers, and these receivers have been downsized slightly in order to better accommodate the gun’s 9 mm Luger chambering.

“With it, you get Colt SMG-type magazines,” Olsen said “Now, other guns we’ve seen before have come with magazine-well adapters to run Glock magazines, and Springfield opted to go with that Colt SMG type. You get a 32-round stick, and it’s a steel mag, it’s a very good magazine, and in our experience on the range, it runs flawless.”

Mated to the upper receiver is a 16″ Melonite-treated barrel that’s surrounded by a low-profile handguard loaded with M-Lok accessory attachment points.

“And on the end of it, it is threaded, so if you want to run a can, that’s not a problem, but Springfield ships this with their forward blast diverter. It does help mitigate some of the recoil.” Olsen said. “Along the front, you’ve got a small section of Picatinny rail, and Springfield does include these iron sights,” Olsen said. “These are great. They’re metal sights. They’re fully adjustable. They flip up. They’re low-profile.”

A set of B5 System furniture completes this upgraded package, offering a six-position adjustable stock, a well-textured pistol grip and an enlarged trigger guard that provides plenty of room for gloved hands.

“So if you’re in the market to upgrade to a pistol-caliber carbine, the Springfield Saint Victor is a forged unit that’s built to last, and we think you’ll enjoy it on the range,” Olsen concluded.
