Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. has a long history of promoting the future of shooting sports. Last year, from September to December, it hosted 17 auctions on GunBroker.com. The proceeds, which totaled $25,000, benefited MidwayUSA Foundation and every dollar raised will directly support youth shooting sports.

The company began its philanthropic auction efforts on the website in 2010. All the money raised goes to the designated charity. Its donations through the program now total more than $900,000.

“Ruger Firearms is pleased to support MidwayUSA Foundation with the proceeds from our special GunBroker.com fundraising auctions,” Ruger Public Relations Manager Paul Pluff said. “These funds will help continue the foundation’s efforts to support youth shooting sports programs that provide the critical safety and firearms training that focuses on developing our next-generation’s shooting sports enthusiasts.”

MidwayUSA Foundation funds approximately 2,600 youth shooting teams through earmarked endowments. Teams can receive a 5 percent cash grant each year from their endowment balance to cover expenses, including ammo, targets, safety equipment and travel expenses.

“Once again, Ruger has set the example by directly supporting youth in shooting sports,” said MidwayUSA Foundation Executive Director G. Scott Reynolds. “Their generosity to ensure America’s youth have the opportunity and funds to participate in the shooting sport of their choice is appreciated and impactful.” Scott added, “Commitment from industry leaders, such as Ruger, makes a real difference in furthering youth development through shooting sports. We can’t thank Ruger enough for their partnership and support of our mission.”

In 2023, $24,000 from Ruger’s auctions on GunBroker.com benefited the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF). “Supporting organizations like the SSSF is vital to our industry,” Ruger president and CEO Chris Killoy said at the time. “We are excited to continue our support of the SSSF in its mission to provide educational and developmental opportunities to young people interested in the shooting sports while giving loyal Ruger customers the chance to bid on one-of-a-kind Ruger firearms.”
