San Diego County deputies arrest 29-year-old William Linares after finding a ghost gun and a high-capacity magazine during a traffic stop in San Marcos. The incident occurred on July 3, when deputies pulled over Linares for a vehicle code violation and discovered an un-serialized, fully loaded assault rifle and another loaded pistol inside his vehicle.

Ghost guns, which lack serial numbers, complicate law enforcement’s ability to trace firearms, making them a growing concern for public safety. In addition to the firearms, deputies also uncovered illegal narcotics and a significant amount of cash, leading to multiple felony charges against Linares, including carrying a loaded gun in a public space and possession of a firearm without identification.
