The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to review Minnesota’s appeal to revive a ban on gun-carry permits for individuals under the age of 21, effectively blocking the state’s restrictions. This decision upholds a previous ruling by the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which found that the 2003 law infringed upon the rights guaranteed by the Second and Fourteenth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.

The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus has noted that the court’s refusal to intervene illustrates the ongoing debate over gun rights, particularly for young adults. Attorney General Keith Ellison contends that individuals aged 18 to 20 lack the maturity necessary for responsible gun ownership, yet this ruling signifies a significant win for advocates of Second Amendment rights and could set a precedent for similar legal battles nationwide.
