St. Paul experiences a notable decline in gun violence, with only eight shooting injuries reported this year, compared to 26 at the same time last year, and no homicides by gunfire thus far. This reduction is attributed to innovative strategies, including the establishment of a Non-Fatal Shooting Unit that has improved the clearance rate for such cases to about 71 percent in 2024, significantly higher than previous years.

As officials reflect on these promising trends, they recognize a need for sustained work to maintain these gains.
