Columbia police continue to grapple with an alarming trend of stolen firearms, as recent incidents link these guns to local crimes. Assistant Chief Lance Bolinger informs that stolen guns frequently resurface at crime scenes, highlighting the public safety implications of this ongoing problem.

Recent incidents underscore the seriousness of the issue, with 30 stolen guns recovered this year alone, alongside over 34 guns confiscated from a suspected theft ring in March. The police emphasize the importance of not only securing weapons but also maintaining accurate records of serial numbers, as tracing stolen firearms remains a significant challenge.
