The U.S. Solicitor General has filed a brief urging the Supreme Court to review a pivotal Second Amendment issue in Wolford v. Lopez. The case examines whether states can prohibit concealed-carry license holders from bringing firearms onto private property open to the public without explicit permission from property owners, a significant legal question following the recent Bruen ruling.

The brief highlights how five states, including Hawaii, have shifted the legal landscape by requiring express authorization for firearms on private property, a reversal of long-standing practices. With the Ninth Circuit upholding Hawaii’s law, the Solicitor General emphasizes that resolving this matter could provide essential clarity not only for lower courts but for citizens exercising their constitutional rights.
