Teen Sentenced in Baton Rouge Fatal Robbery Case

Dayln Hynard, now 23, receives a 30-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to his role in a fatal armed robbery that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Charvon Johnson in December 2018. The incident occurred when Hynard, who was 16 at the time, arranged to meet Johnson to buy a handgun, leading to a deadly confrontation behind an abandoned home on Jackson Avenue.

During court proceedings, Hynard admitted to manslaughter in Johnson’s shooting while also pleading guilty to criminal conspiracy stemming from an earlier robbery. In total, he will serve 45 years concurrently for both offenses. This case highlights the tragic consequences of youth violence and the complexities of prosecuting young offenders as adults.
