Kimber entered the 2011-style handgun market in a big way, launching multiple variants catered to different segments of the shooting public. The company’s KDS9c brought higher capacity to the 1911-style carry gun market, while its 2K11 design offered a different take on the 2011-style race gun. Now, with its new 1911 DS Warrior, Kimber is offering a more affordably priced option to handgun enthusiasts looking for a do-it-all double-stack that still retains key 1911 features.

At its core, the 1911 DS Warrior pairs a traditional Kimber single-action 1911 slide with a modern double-stack subframe and grip module to deliver increased magazine capacity without sacrificing the familiarity or shootability expected by 1911 enthusiasts. The slide features Kimber’s internal extractor, a bushing system barrel and a mil-spec guide rod.

All models are optics-ready, allowing shooters to easily mount today’s most popular red dot sights. The 1911 DS Warrior will launch in four calibers—9 mm, .45 ACP, 10 mm, and .38 Super—giving consumers a broad range of options for personal defense, duty use, hunting and competition. The guns are offered in a standard, full-size, 5-inch-barreled configuration, with the exception of an additional 10 mm model that will be available in a 6-inch, long-slide configuration.

“With the 1911 DS Warrior, we listened to shooters who wanted a true Kimber 1911 experience in a high-capacity, value-driven package,” said Pedi Gega, Kimber’s director of product development. “This is an entirely new platform that keeps our traditional 1911 DNA—internal extractor, bushing barrel and crisp trigger—while delivering the magazine capacity and optic-ready features today’s shooters expect. It’s built here in the United States for those who prefer a domestic, quality-made option over imported, budget, high-capacity, 1911-style pistols.”

Exact pricing on the 1911 DS Warrior is still to be determined, but Kimber told American Rifleman to expect a “street price of around $999 to $1,099.” For more information on the 1911 DS Warrior, visit kimberamerica.com.
