A road-rage incident in Houston, Texas, ended with the aggressor hospitalized with gunshot wounds, after he allegedly threatened a 20-year-old driver and blocked his vehicle from moving, according to police reports.

At about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, police say a man in his 40s driving a truck was swerving in and out of traffic on I-610 in northeast Houston and “driving aggressively.” At some point, the reckless driver targeted a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old man who had his pregnant girlfriend in the passenger seat. The truck driver reportedly brake-checked the 20-year-old, prompting him to leave the freeway in an attempt to distance himself from the aggressive driver.

The 40-year-old then followed the 20-year-old and his girlfriend, pulling up next to them at a red light and “indicating that he wanted to hurt them.” The victim attempted to get away again, but the truck driver drove into oncoming traffic, then swerved in front of him and blocked his vehicle from moving. The aggressive truck driver then exited his vehicle and approached the 20-year-old “with his hands near his pocket.”

Fearing for his life and the life of his pregnant girlfriend, the 20-year-old man drew his concealed carry gun and fired at the threatening driver through the front windshield, hitting the man in the torso, arm and leg. The alleged aggressor was transported to a local hospital, where he is expected to survive. The 20-year-old driver remained at the scene and was fully cooperating with investigators. Recently released from the hospital following a heart attack, Herman McBroom, 81, was resting in his Port Orchard, Wash., home when a man broke in, entered the bedroom, and demanded money.

The intruder struck McBroom in the face several times, breaking the elderly man’s glasses and cutting his forehead. While the robber rifled through the dresser drawers, McBroom retrieved a .25-cal. handgun.

When the assailant moved to attack once again, McBroom shot him in the neck, forcing him to flee. A suspect was arrested while seeking treatment at a nearby hospital. (The Bremerton Sun, Bremerton, Wash.)
