Armed Citizen® Today

An early morning carjacking attempt on Chicago’s South Side ended poorly for the alleged thieves, as they were caught in the act by the armed and licensed vehicle owner.

On Monday, December 8, around 3:30 a.m., the 58-year-old owner of the vehicle heard his car alarm going off and stepped outside to investigate the noise. There, he saw the driver’s side window of his white Honda Accord shattered, and two males were inside the vehicle. One of the males displayed a firearm, prompting the vehicle owner, who possessed an Illinois concealed carry license, to open fire.

His shots struck one of the alleged car thieves, and the other fled from the scene, jumping into a waiting Dodge Caravan nearby. Police were called to the scene by the vehicle owner’s girlfriend, and upon arrival, they found the wounded suspect suffering from gunshot wounds to his right arm and left knee. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment. (CWBChicago; Chicago, Ill.; 12/8/25)

A teenager tried to hold up Monta Lee Savage of Uniontown, Pa., and threatened her with a four-foot section of rubber hose, She promptly drew her .25-cal. semi-automatic handgun, disarmed the youth and held him for police, who arrived to find her with a pistol in one hand and a permit for it in the other.
