A man’s attempt to swipe an item from a newsstand in Columbus, Ohio, ended with him being shot by one of the newsstand workers and subsequently placed under arrest.
According to court documents, the 20-year-old suspect allegedly took an object from a cooler at the newsstand and was noticed by one of the employees. The employee confronted the man, who allegedly drew a silver handgun and pointed it at the employee. The worker called for his brother, who was armed. The brother drew his own firearm and shot the suspect, wounding him.
Police took the man into custody, and he was charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and was held on a $25,000 bond. (Fox 28 News; Columbus, Ohio; 10/22/24)

An armed bandit entered Orr Stewart’s Cleveland, Ohio, dime store and ordered Stewart to empty the cash register. Suddenly, the thief was flanked by two pistol-wielding female clerks. When he turned toward one clerk with his gun, both women opened fire. The bandit fell to the floor, wounded. Police removed him to a hospital. (The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio)
