A 48-year-old man was shot and killed in Lorain, Ohio, after allegedly attempting to break into a home just before 5 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, according to local reports.
Police responded to a call shortly thereafter, with the caller reporting that a man had been shot at the home. Officers responded to find the suspect lying, unresponsive, just inside the home’s front door, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. A preliminary investigation revealed that the man had been attempting to break into he residence, prompting one person in the home to respond with a legally owned firearm.
EMS personnel pronounced the man dead on the scene. As of this reporting, no arrests had been made and no charges had been filed. Officers were reported to have taken “multiple firearms” from the scene as evidence. (News 5 Cleveland; Lorain, Ohio; 5/17/25)

While a man posing as a customer engaged a Chattanooga, Tenn., motel clerk in conversation, an accomplice armed with a sawed-off shotgun burst in and announced a holdup. The clerk, 68-year-old Lawrence Denton, yanked a pistol from a desk and fired at the man with the shotgun.
The latter fired once and missed, but two of Denton’s shots found their mark. The wounded intruder died. His unarmed partner fled. (The Chattanooga News-Free, Chattanooga, Tenn.)
