Armed Citizen® Today

A 41-year-old man who attempted to rob a convenience store in Concord, Calif., was killed by an armed employee, according to local police.

At about 11:30 p.m. on Friday, February 21, the suspect entered the S&S Fast & Easy Mart, pointed a shotgun at an employee and demanded access to the store’s business safe. The armed burglar directed the employee to move to the back of the store. While they moved, the threatened employee grabbed the shotgun in an attempt to disarm the thief.

A second store employee, who was armed, heard the commotion and responded. As the first employee and the burglar wrestled for control of the shotgun, the responding worker drew his firearm and shot the burglar. When police responded, they found the suspect dead at the scene. Both employees cooperated with investigators, and neither one was arrested. (KRON 4 News; Concord, Calif.; 2/25/25)

From his living quarters in the rear of his Big Springs, Kan., store, W.C. Long was able to hear the sounds of breaking glass. He armed himself with a 12-ga. shotgun and went to the front of the store, where he found two men. One shot from the shotgun killed the first intruder, who had a long record of convictions, and wounded the other. (AP)
