In Ann Arbor, Mich., on the afternoon of Aug. 27, a man entered a stamps and coins business and produced a firearm. A clerk responded by drawing their gun and firing one shot. The suspect fled on foot with another adult male who had entered the business earlier than the presumptive robber.
No one was struck by the gunfire, and no injuries were reported. Responding officers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate either suspect. (Breaking News 989 Facebook post; Saginaw, Mich.; 8/28/26)

An elderly Grass Valley, Calif., couple was awakened at 3 a.m. by the sounds of a break-in. Jay Mcleod armed himself with a handgun. After two masked men attacked him and his wife, Inez, the badly injured home-owner fired at his assailants, who fled. (The Union; Grass Valley, Calif.)
