Ryan Routh, the man charged with attempted assassination of Donald Trump, prepares for trial next week in Fort Pierce, Florida, where jury selection is set to begin. Routh is accused of plotting to kill Trump while he played golf at his West Palm Beach country club in September 2024, allegedly aiming a rifle at the president before being thwarted by a Secret Service agent.

As Routh represents himself in court, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon warns him that any sudden movements will prompt immediate action from marshals. Legal proceedings will scrutinize evidence, including messages from Routh’s phone where he sought “help ensuring that (Trump) does not get elected,” as well as prior violent incidents linking him to a history of dangerous behavior. The trial promises to delve into Routh’s calculated plans and past legal troubles, shedding light on a case that has captured national attention.
