Pennsylvania State Police are broadening their “Building Bridges Community Outreach Program,” aimed at educating the public about common misconceptions surrounding policing. Launched in 2021, the initiative has involved troopers visiting colleges and community groups, facilitating open discussions about critical topics such as use of force and Qualified Immunity.

Recent collaborations with Penn State University show promising results, with polls conducted before and after sessions indicating improved understanding among students. Trooper Joe Dunsmore emphasizes the program’s role in fostering meaningful conversations with community members, demonstrating a proactive approach to enhance police-community relations across the state.
