The number of gun deaths in the United States decreased for the second consecutive year in 2023, yet the annual total remains one of the highest on record. Approximately 58% of U.S. adults advocate for stricter gun laws, reflecting widespread concern over gun violence despite the recent decline in fatalities.

Additionally, nearly one in four teachers report that their schools experienced a gun-related lockdown in the last academic year, revealing deep-seated anxieties in educational settings. With 59% of public K-12 teachers worried about potential shootings at their schools, the issue of gun safety continues to loom large over American society.
