Roderick Shundale Dover, 33, is sentenced to 30 years in prison for armed robbery after a harrowing incident at a Cherokee County gas station in 2022 where he threatened a clerk with a loaded gun. The robbery escalated when Dover placed the gun to the clerk’s neck and pulled the trigger, but fortunately, the weapon malfunctioned and did not discharge.

The next day, police apprehend Dover after the clerk recognizes him waiting in a car with his girlfriend. Officers discover he possessed $890 cash and had discarded his clothing from the robbery; he became a suspect due to his frequent visits to the store. Deputy Solicitor Kim Leskanic emphasizes the clerk’s quick thinking and law enforcement’s efficiency in bringing him to justice.
