The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announces the deployment of advanced US weapons platforms, including NMESIS and the MRC Typhon, to enhance military capabilities during the ongoing “Balikatan” exercise. These systems are not only integral for joint training but also vital for the AFP’s modernization efforts, promising to elevate operational readiness and interoperability with US forces.

Col. Francel Margareth Padilla emphasizes that these cutting-edge technologies will help train personnel in the efficient use of modern warfare tools. Notably, the NMESIS, a mobile anti-ship missile system, boasts a range of 100 nautical miles, while the MRC Typhon can launch missiles over 1,000 nautical miles. This introduction exemplifies a commitment to maintaining a stable and free Indo-Pacific region, as affirmed by US Marine Forces Pacific commander Lt. Gen. James Glynn.
