The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources announces that applications for fall bird hunting permits will open on July 2, allowing hunters to pursue various species including greater sage-grouse and sandhill cranes. Notably, hunting trumpeter swans is illegal in the state due to their low population, making Utah one of only nine states that permit swan hunting.
